The Short Answer is: -
proxy servers, but as we all know not all of them are secure to use.so the best application I found for this is TOR, for windows and MAC because in how it works. Relaying with the clients opting in to be relays as well hiding your real IP behind the relay hops
Tor works by
"sending your packets through a series of onion routers, at each hop the sender’s IP is changed to that of the Onion router, this has the effect that the next onion router only has the address of it’s predecessor and successor- thus after a few hops your IP is no longer visible to not only the TOR nodes but ultimately the destination address"
so Tor can prevent you from being monitored by your network admin, as I know in the security level at LTT, they may notice that you are using Tor but they won't be able to know what you are using Tor for. Tor is a bit slower than normal method or surfing internet normally as your connection going through Tor servers, and it is also more better while in Adsl Libya we have only 5 gigs of bandwidth Tor can reduce it.
You can use Tor to tunnel your MSN/AIM/Yahoo/etc messenger traffic. specially Yahoo messenger because many problem comes with Libya Adsl and Yahoo messenger, sometimes you can't log in and I use Tor for that.
My Advice for you to use TOR and Live ;)
and here how you download Tor and use it.
For Firefox users:
Download Tor& privoxy package from here
it comes with Firefox's button as you see here,

you can just enable this button or disable Tor through it.
IE MS users:Follow these steps
- tools within IE
- internet options
- connections tab
- settings button
- tick the ‘use a proxy server for this…’ box
- enter the 127.0.0.1 for the address or"Localhost"
- enter 8118 for the port
Tor With MSN Live messenger
Tools --> Options ----> Connections --> Advance Setup
for Socks Proxy enter 127.0.0.1 port 9050
for http Proxy enter 127.0.0.1 port 8118
however since the newer versions of messenger use the IE explorer connection settings you have to custom that there now
sadly.. however there is way using proxomitron $setproxy() HEADER filter to redirect a given host like *.msn.com and *.passport, com and *,passport.net that MSN Chat uses to the 8118 port above while leaving the IE7 open via your normal IP. by sending it also
proxomiton on 127.0.01 port 8080 and having the proxy bypassed while it filters and redirects MSN chat to TOR for you.
(hence using 2 proxies TOR and Proxomitron!)
Tor with Yahoo messenger:

your connection preference must be look like the setting above.
Some users will prefer to use another Browser more secure and comes in with Tor already included it's a Torpark Browser very pretty nice tools for some advanced uses who want to be more secure.
UPDATE: MSN LIVE MESSENGER wont use the proxy.
solution: FORCE MSN 7.5, 8.1 , 8.5 or higher to use proxy by
blocking MSN chat in nortons security or perhaps port 1863 in your firewall or XPs built-in firewall
when it fails it will then try using the proxy and http settings instead. Also other alternative is an add-on
encryption for msn called MSN Simp Lite as it will force communication via a proxy and not tcp directly
The downside to block direct TCP.. is it doubles the start up/login time...since no way to disable it so have to wait
until it times out and finally tries the other connection alternatives.
Not sure if theres a registry tweak, quick look didn tfind one... but since MSN live really needs a tick box to disable/enable tcp if want it
in the advance connection settings.. I guess they did the auto sensing thing for DUMB users and removed the advance users options incase
a dumb user messed it up? who knows.. maybe a security thing to prevent people hiding the IP connecting to their servers
but as for the encryption thing.. it only works at encoding the plain text going through their servers (since its lacking the
feature from MSN coders! yet again).. if the other chatter is using the same product.. so it still works but
not encoded.. for regular users.. but I guess its ideal if get friends to add it too and of course use the connection thing...
theres probably other MSN addons.. but in the past I found them to be buggy and crash if msn auto-updated
and some had spyware too.. so I personally stay away from the addons if can help it.
